On the Origins of the Recent ‘Trans’ Movement

Who was it that started this game of “Let’s fundamentally reconsider what it means to be a woman”?

I know a woman who constantly misgenders people. She calls everybody ‘she’. That’s because she comes from the Philippines, and they don’t have gendered pronouns in Tagalog. She’s lucky she’s not in jail. [1]

As a joke, she and her best female friend call each other ‘bakla’, a word which denotes a male-to-female transgender. So, two heterosexual married mothers greet each other by saying something like, “Hey, ladyboy!”. Political Correctness doesn’t exist outside of the West.

At her wedding, there was a team of make-up artists and hairdressers to attend to the bride and her entourage. Every member of the team was bakla. If you walk around the centre of Manila in the evening looking for a place to eat, the promoters standing outside the restaurants trying to tempt you into their eating establishment are pretty much all bakla. It’s not an issue. Her devoutly Catholic mother is entirely relaxed about it. It’s just a part of Philippine life.

Transgender people have always been with us, even in the West. I can remember watching Danny LaRue performing on the BBC in the 1970s. What’s new is that the Left has recently been thrusting them into our faces and behaving as if they are the first people in the world ever to discover transgenderism. It’s so cute, really. It reminds me of the 18-year-old vegan I met at a family event who assumed I had never heard of veganism before, and told me that vegan food really isn’t as strange as I think it is, and I ought to stop being so squeamish and consider trying it some time. I didn’t have the heart to tell her that when I was her age, I was also a vegan, but I eventually grew out of it, as she almost certainly will.

I became aware of the recent Trans hysteria gradually. I was at a Church Men’s event a year or two back, and my friend was there with his son. While we were eating, he suddenly asked me, “When you were at school, how many kids in your class were openly gay or transgender?”

I probably looked a bit surprised. “None”, I said. “What about you?”

“Also, none”, he replied.

“What makes you ask?”

“Tell him, son”.

The teenager said, “About 30% of my class are openly gay or trans, including two boys who dress as girls. Half the class hate it, the other half think it’s fantastic. Almost nobody is in between”.

I was pretty amazed by this. This is a fairly ordinary secondary school in a middle-class neighbourhood not far from London. School has obviously changed a bit since my time.

What on earth has happened?

I can see several causes of the recent hysteria. These are just my observations.

Left-wing political over-reach

I am old enough to remember when ‘gender politics’ was called ‘sexual politics’. I think it was re-named for two reasons.

1. English-speaking Puritans don’t like to mention ‘sex’ if they can possibly avoid it. Some may think that ‘gender’ is a more polite euphemism which means the same. If so, they are mistaken.

2. There has been a deliberate effort to make a theoretical distinction between sex, which is biological, and gender, which is cultural (or socially constructed). So, women having vaginas is biological and therefore “sex”; women having long hair and wearing make-up and dresses is cultural and therefore “gender”.

The Left is committed to Social Constructionism, the view that all human psychology is determined by social environment, rather than by anything biological. This is a large enough subject for a separate treatment, but I wanted to make one or two points about it here.

The Left concerns itself with what is socially constructed, and as a way of maximising its own opportunities for power, it often chooses to believe that everything in the world is socially constructed. They believe that they cannot control anything which is biological, and therefore they downplay its significance. By focusing on gender, and gifting it a practically unlimited remit, the Left maximises its own political territory.

Having previously unhitched gender from sex, what we have seen recently is simply the logical conclusion of this process. Just eliminate sex from the equation altogether, and pretend that everything is gender. There is, then, nothing that the Left does not have control over.

It then becomes possible to say that there is nothing to being a woman other than the fact that I claim to be a woman. There is no such thing as sex; there is only gender. This is a clear ideological overreach, and a political power-grab by a section of the Left.

The act of renaming ‘sexual politics’ to ‘gender politics’ is a part of this power-grab. By emphasising the socially constructed, the Left is appropriating more territory for itself, granting itself more power.

Indoctrination of the Youth

As the Left is committed to transforming Western society into a utopia, and believes that everything in human psychology is environmentally determined, it follows that this transformation has to be done by exposing people, and particularly young people, to controlled social influence. This is, I believe, one of the main sources of left-wing authoritarianism.

We have a duty, for the common good of humanity, to control your environment so that you adopt the ‘correct’ attitudes.

From this one principle alone, much evil flows.

One of the motivations behind the recent Drag Queen Story Time phenomenon seems to be the desire to indoctrinate children from a young age into accepting ‘Queer’ culture as normal. I wonder if they have stopped to consider that if it becomes normal, it will no longer be queer. Anyway…

Waging war against the Mainstream

Many on the Left are quite prepared to pursue insane, damaging policies for no reason other than that Conservatives would oppose them. This is what Tony Blair’s one-time aide Andrew Neather admitted with regard to immigration; the Blair government opened the borders just to “rub the Right’s noses in diversity”. I suspect this is another of the motivating factors behind Drag Queen Story Time. Conservative Parents won’t like it - therefore, we have to do it out of sheer spite, just to annoy them.

Validation-seeking in a Misandrist Society

We have seen fifty years and more of anti-male propaganda across the West. If you are a male, you are a worthless piece of garbage. Particularly if you are white, heterosexual and working-class as well. You have no redeeming features. How can you make your mark upon the world? How can you get some validation?

Well, there is a way, for those brave enough to take it: If you become transgender, you suddenly become one of the special people. You can take your place in the pantheon of Left-wing victim-groups. It will have an obvious appeal to some. Whatever you incentivise, you will get more of. It’s basic Economics.

Late-stage Civilisational Decadence

Many people have commented on a wider crisis afflicting the Western world. The academic Camille Paglia has observed that transgenderism is an end-of-days phenomenon. She comments that the same kind of cultural decadence was seen in late-stage Greece, and in Weimar Germany. It is, she contends, a warning sign of imminent civilisational collapse (Interview here starting at 4:00 minutes).

The Pharmaceutical-Industrial Complex’s Business Model

In his film ‘What is a Woman?’, Matt Walsh identifies the profitable business model that transgenderism represents for pharmaceutical companies. Each child who becomes transgender is committed to a lifetime of using pharmaceutical drugs to the value of millions of dollars. Obviously pharmaceutical companies are not going to discourage this.

Here’s a hypothesis worth investigating: Vaccines cause autism. Autism causes gender dysphoria. The British doctor Andrew Wakefield was vilified for suggesting a link between infant vaccination and autism, but it seems that many people are now convinced that he was right. It also seems to be the case that many of the children identifying as transgender are autistic. Maybe it’s something for Robert F Kennedy Jr to look into.

I’m personally not qualified to say whether it is true or not, but if it is established beyond reasonable doubt, it would be a major scandal. It would mean that newborns are given pharmaceutical products which damage them, many become effectively neurologically disabled as a result of the damage, some of them subsequently go on to develop gender dysphoria, and at every stage, they are given more pharmaceutical products to deal with the effects of the damage caused by the original pharmaceutical products, and all for corporate profits. This would, arguably, constitute a major crime against humanity.

Clinical Narcissism

Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) may be manifesting itself in a couple of different ways. We saw activists using the slogan ‘Protect Trans Kids’. I don’t believe that there is any such thing as a Trans Kid. A transgender child is like a vegan cat. We all know who’s making the decisions, and it isn’t the cat. Some commentators have said that a transgender child is the new Gucci handbag for affluent, neurotic attention-seeking mothers; it is the new Munchausen’s Syndrome by Proxy. There seem to have been several cases of a divorced mother ‘transitioning’ her child in order to spite her estranged husband. This is, of course, unforgivable evil.

Sexual Gratification

The other group of likely NPD cases are the adult male Drag Queens that we have seen performing in front of young children in kindergartens. These seem to be mostly heterosexual men with the paraphilia known as autogynephilia (‘the love of oneself as a woman’).

Drag Queens don’t just dress up as women, they seem to dress up mainly as Vaudeville strip-tease artists. Maybe its just that when you’re an overweight 50-year-old bloke called Gerald, that’s about the best female impression you can manage, so you have to make the best of it.

The fact that such people performing sexualised dance routines in front of toddlers has been allowed to happen at all, even encouraged, seems to lend credibility to Camille Paglia’s view that the West is in a decadent pre-collapse phase of moral degeneracy masquerading as liberal sophistication.

Some of the people described as ‘trans activists’ seem to have an unpleasant mixture of autogynephilia and narcissism; try challenging their self-declared moral authority and see how quickly male-pattern aggression appears. “Call me ‘sir’ one more time and I’ll beat you up”, said no woman, anywhere, ever.

Ask not what harm watching a Drag Queen show does to children; ask instead why a Drag Queen wants to perform in front of children.

Military Psychological Operations

I remember reading that China is banning ‘sissy-boy’ performers from television, and launching a drive to promote manliness and masculinity. This is because it is building up its military with the intention of replacing the USA as the dominant global superpower. It makes sense that they would want to educate their young people to embrace martial values.

It would also be logical for them to undermine their adversaries in the same way. Chinese interests apparently control the TikTok social media platform that so preoccupies Western youth. It may benefit China in the long term if masculinity and martial values were vilified in Western culture. It is quite possible that someone is actively promoting transgenderism among Western youth with the intention of undermining Western military readiness over the medium term.

The Normal Modus Operandi of the Left

I’m only speculating, but what is clear is that the transgender mania did not suddenly come out of nowhere. It has been brewing for a long time.

Although the factors in play may be several, they add up to a picture of a civilisation in disarray.

All of this is business as usual for the Left. It weaponises various demographic groups that it identifies as ‘victims’, in order to present itself as the Saviour, so that it can demand more power and money, which is all that it really wants. First, of course, it was the working class. Then it was ethnic minorities, particularly the black population. Then it was women. Then it was the gay community. Recently, we had the transgender mania. Now it is refugees and asylum-seekers. It doesn’t actually care about any of these groups.

Whenever these groups have served their purpose, and outlived their usefulness, they are discarded, and the Left moves on, like a plague of locusts, to fresh feeding-grounds. It has always been thus. If you think that the Left is going to rescue you, you’re mistaken. It destroys everything it touches.

Feminists above all should be painfully aware of this at the moment. After five decades and more of lecturing the world about women’s rights, the Left has thrown feminists under a bus. Women no longer exist. Now they are ‘menstruating people’ with a ‘bonus hole’.

Internecine Struggles Within the Misandrist Community

As for the ‘TERF’ wars, I never thought I would find myself on the same side as feminists. What strange times we live in. In the 1940s, we found ourselves fighting on the same side as the Soviet Communists. Sometimes you just have to hold your nose and get on with it. You can always wash your hands afterwards.

A friend of mine was trying to find a suitable youth organisation for his son to join. He looked around in his local area and found the Scouts and the Guides.

· The Guides accepts girls only.

· The Scouts accepts both boys and girls.

So, there is no youth organisation for boys.

None.

Because feminism.

So, feminists, you don’t like biological males in women’s spaces. I have to say I agree with you. But whose fault is it?

· Who was it that started this game of “Let’s fundamentally reconsider what it means to be a woman”?

· Who spent decades demonising males and screaming about ‘toxic masculinity’?

· Who spent years telling men to get in touch with their feminine side in order to become better people (The moral narcissism of which is something to behold) ?

· Who has spent decades preaching about the evils of male-only spaces? How dare you have a male-only golf club, or a male only college. You must abolish these sexist anachronisms immediately. Women must march triumphantly into all male spaces, wherever they are to be found.

What did you think was going to happen? There was obviously going to be a price to pay for all of this.

Now, you have to contend with fat middle-aged men dressing up in female garb and calling themselves Shirley, and scratching their balls in front of you as you’re getting changed after your morning swim.

Now, you have to watch the spectacle of two biological males competing against each other in the final of the Women’s Pool championship.

You have made a rod for your own backs. You are hoist by your own petard. If you sit down to sup with the devil, or in your case, academic Marxism, expect a bitter taste in your mouth.

I can’t bring myself to laugh, much as I would like to, because the whole pantomime is just too grotesque to be comical. I can only look on in morbid fascination, trying not to feel nauseous. It’s the children I feel sorry for. It’s high time someone wrote a book about toxic femininity.

You know what, though, my TERF allies-of-convenience? If you want to have all-female spaces (and in my opinion, you should), then you have to allow all-male spaces.

Maybe just go and join a different golf-club. That’s if you even play golf.

How about a deal? You give us the Boy Scouts back, and we support you on Women’s sports. I’m sure we can come to some arrangement.

Nature seems to be healing

A mindset as absurd as this transgender mania can’t possibly last long. In Britain, the whole insane edifice seemed to die a sudden death as soon as the Cass Report was published. It was really quite dramatic to witness. It felt like the scene at the very end of ‘Lord of the Flies’ when the boat full of adults suddenly turns up.

With the recent re-election of Donald Trump, there is a new feeling in the air. All sorts of people who were engaged in blatant criminality five minutes ago are suddenly scrambling to present an image of law-abiding moderation.

Have we now passed Peak Woke, at long last? I have thought so before and been proven wrong, but this time it looks like we really might have.

[1] I was only joking, of course, when I said that she’s lucky she’s not in jail. The Left-wing establishment would never put her in jail for misgendering someone because she is a foreign woman of colour, and misgendering people is part of her authentic lived experience. She’s only being politically incorrect because of systemic heteronormative-patriarchal-Capitalist hegemonic oppression. It’s actually all my fault.
